A Grey & Blue Wedding at Stokesay Castle

Jon & Sam married each other at Stokesay Castle in Reading, PA this past Saturday. That’s right. A castle!! The inside of this building was incredibly ornate and beautiful. Apparently, the history behind Stokesay is that it was originally an engagement gift from a groom to his fiancé, but she didn’t approve of the lavish gift. Just saying, if Steph bought me a castle, you better believe I’d approve! Anyway, it was a super cool place and we hope we get to shoot there again!

We arrived knowing that there was a chance we may have to break out the umbrellas. The forecast called for rain around the time their ceremony was to take place. You never would have guessed that it was going to rain just by looking at the sky. Blue sky and sun pierced through the clouds around 3pm, but at 4:45, fifteen minutes before their ceremony, we had dark clouds and the temperature dropped. Their ceremony moved inside the reception hall. It was the right call to make because at 5pm it was a downpour. The rain would have soaked everyone from head to toe. The ceremony was moved inside and Jon & Sam were married in front of their sweet heart table with their friends and family at their tables.

Jon & Sam are so easy going. Their laid back personalities really shone through because most brides could become really upset about the incoming rain, but Sam said if it rains, it rains. No big deal. I think we were more worried about the rain than she was. Jon & Sam met way back in high school, so this wedding was a long time coming! They’ve known each other for a decade and they’ve finally tied the knot. Sam is also a photographer and mentioned that it was really weird to be on the other side of the lens!

We loved watching them smile with each other the entire day. They were on top of the world. Sam said she might cry if Jon starts crying during their first look, but before Jon even turned around, Sam was already a mess. Once Jon turned around, he gave her a big smile and started dabbing her tears with his handkerchief. It was really cute and adorable! We love moments like this! Oh, and their puppy Drogo showed up, too! You might remember him from their engagement session last year. He pranced right up to his people and gave them big kisses. He’s pretty adorable and really good in front of camera!
