We met Darius & Minh at Valley Forge Park on one of the cloudiest days we’ve seen in a while. That morning was unbelievable foggy and Minh was nervous about it being too cloudy and potentially rainy. Thankfully the fog cleared, but when we arrived at the park, we realized that it was insanely windy. Minh was a bit nervous about the whole thing, but she embraced the wind and everything turned out perfectly fine! Once you pretend it’s Beyoncé’s fan, you feel a bit more like a model. Darius & Minh did an incredible job and we loved wandering around the park with them. They came all the way from New Jersey to spend some time with us for their engagement session.
We heard all about their wedding that’s coming up this May. It’ll be our first time photographing a tea ceremony (Minh’s Vietnamese) and so we heard the rundown on everything that’s going to happen. After the tea and wedding ceremony, we’ll all head over to The Palace at Somerset Park for the reception. We hear that venue is gorgeous, so we’re excited to photograph a wedding there, especially Darius & Minh’s. Based on the wedding plans we’ve heard thus far, it sounds like it’ll be absolutely gorgeous!
Darius & I met in college back in 2007! So long ago! We were in the same summer class for organic chemistry. Believe it or not, I was the one who started the conversation first. I’ve always been more of a shy girl, but he was even more Shan than I am. My first impression of Darius was that he had a lot in common with me academically speaking. We were always the only people sitting in the front and the only ones to arrive early to class, and always had something to ask the professor. I’ve always been more attracted to guys who are punctual and take their academics seriously, so I started talking to him. Mostly, I just asked him about the lessons, but once I opened up, Darius did too and we started growing a little closer.
I ended up transferring to another college and we lost touch for a while, but in 2011, he began texting me again. We started going to the movies and reading together. Sometimes we just sit in Barnes & Nobles and just read the books from the shelves, often leaving without buying anything. Darius proposed to me on August 1st, 2015. We were hanging out in his room. I was playing a video game on the computer and Darius kneeled down in front of me with the ring attached to a hibiscus flower and asked me to marry him! It was completed unexpected, but I was so happy!
You guys are both so sweet and kind! We cannot wait to see you again in just a few short months and capture all of the special moments from your big day! Until then, we hope you enjoy some of our favorites from your engagement session!
