The Happiest Place On Earth

Walt Disney World

Orlando, Florida

One day Josiah said to me, “I really want to go to Disney World,” and of course I said, “Let’s go!” Now, I was joking because I knew that it would never work out but little did I know Josiah was serious! We planned the whole trip on our own and on May 27th we boarded the plane and took the adventure to Disney World.

We were so excited! It was our first trip together (just the two of us) and I had some surprises waiting in the park for Josiah! After settling in at our resort, we headed to Downtown Disney and had an amazing night eating dinner at Planet Hollywood and exploring together. The rest of the trip flew by. We were constantly moving and loving every second of it! We started our trip at Magic Kingdom. This is my favorite park We entered through the gate and turned the corner to see Cinderella’s castle. I am 22 years old and I still cry when I see it. We just explored the park and ate some delicious food. I convinced Josiah to eat lunch in Belle’s Castle and after an extremely long wait in the hot sun we sat and shared a magical lunch. I loved watching him, eyes wide open, so excited about what he was experiencing. It was ten years since he was last in the happiest place on earth!

The next day we went to Epcot. We were exhausted from the day at Magic Kingdom, but Epcot is the perfect place to just chill out. One great memory of this day was…well lets start back in Magic Kingdom. Josiah had surgery so he obviously had a scar, this scar needs to have sunscreen on it when its in the sun. We put tons of sunscreen on his scar while we were at Magic Kingdom, however forgot the rest of his body. Now with that information I can get back to the story.  Josiah was in tons of pain when he was in the sun. He was hiding in the shadows and waiting for clouds. He was really struggling, but I thought it may have been slightly entertaining. We spent a lot of the day relaxing (out of the sun for Josiah’s sake). This was one of my favorite parts of the trip because we were just together, being us and hanging out. We also love people watching so that was fun cause there are some weird people at Disney, who are we to talk… Josiah looked like James Bond as he hugged the walls of buildings just to remain in that tiny section of shade. We sat in Italy for a long time, sharing a drink and just talking about life and us. It was perfection.

Finally, we made it to Hollywood Studios. This was Josiah’s favorite part of the trip. It was Star Wars weekend in Hollywood Studios that week so I surprised Josiah with breakfast with Darth Vader and other Star Wars characters. We walked into the restaurant and right away we got to take a picture with Darth Vader & Boba Fett! Josiah was so excited all he could say to Vader was, “Hello, sir.” We sat down and he was speechless & started to tear up (he’ll blame it on nostalgia). It was so special. We ended our trip with a Star Wars fireworks show & then Fantasmic! It was a perfect end to the perfect trip.

This trip was too good to be true! It was like an engagement gift to ourselves. We had engagements buttons and people were always saying “congratulations” and asking how he proposed. We felt so special! I am so blessed to have acted like five-year-old with my prince charming!

We decided to take a break from our DSLRs & enjoy the moment.
Thank you, iPhone.
