So you’re ready for your engagement session! This is the fun part! You get to be models for the evening and even though that can be a little intimidating, we promise that after 20 minutes you will feel like pros! Engagement sessions are a vital part of your wedding experience because what we learn about you during this time is invaluable! You will feel like a pro on the wedding day because of the amazing practice you had during your engagement session!
There are so many things that we wish we knew before going to get our engagement photos taken so we are here to share some wisdom and tips with you!
1. Use Your Connections
We love when our couples pick locations that are special or sentimental to them! If you can’t think of a special place then maybe you know someone who can let you shoot in a really cool location! Maybe your uncle owns a boat or you have friends who will let you shoot on their cool city rooftop at sunset! Don’t be afraid of choosing a creative location! Regardless of the place, as long as there is great light then we can make any place look beautiful!
2. What To Wear
We always advise our couples to choose two outfits; one that is more dressy and another that is casual! This will provide variety in your images and give you two completely different looks! We recommend starting with the dressy outfit!
Don’t try to match! Try to pick outfits and accessories that coordinate instead! If everyone wore the same exact color to their e-sessions, how boring would that be?
Most patterns are okay, but logos and graphic tees are not favorable. If you’re wearing a pattern, try and make sure it’s not overwhelming or distracting.

3. Accessorize & Be Comfortable
Add details and layers of interest to your outfit by accessorizing! Scarfs, necklaces, and fun shoes are always acceptable! Don’t afraid to be bold! Be sure to be comfortable in what you’re wearing! Steph has a lot of jewelry so if you are looking for something or want to see her collection, let us know and we’ll bring it with us!
Be on time! The sun is only out for so long and we want as much time with you as possible! Be sure to empty your pockets when shooting. Hand your phone, keys and anything else in your pockets to us! We don’t want to see keys or phones poking out of your pockets in the shot!
Lastly, make a date out of it! Head out to dinner afterwards and talk about how much fun you had shooting!
