An Ocean Engagement in Cape May, New Jersey

This was one for the books! Erin is Steph’s cousin and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her and TJ who’ve been together for years. Finally, they’re engaged and photographing their engagement in Cape May was the perfect place for it. They both have spent so much time with one another down the shore in Cape May either at the beach, boardwalk or Hobie. They currently live in Colorado and were out visiting for Erin’s grandfather’s 90th birthday. We ventured out to the lighthouse by the beach and to the bay at sunset the night before his party. The weather was perfect and they even brought their puppy, Kona. TJ & Erin were completely up for anything, including getting completely soaked from head to toe. We love when our couples are up for anything!

Their Engagement Story: As Told By Erin

It was Saturday June 2nd, 2018 and I was surprising TJ with a day at “the beach,” (as close to a beach as we could get being in Colorado). I had it all planned out. We were going to the Boulder Reservoir to eat crabs, and kayak and paddleboard afterwards. After a few bumps in my plan, we finished eating and started to pack up to head to our paddle reservation. But before we went over, we had to get a photo (of course)! We asked someone to take a photo of us and as we stood there along the shoreline with our toes in the sand, TJ turned away.  He took his backpack off and got down on one knee, he unwrapped HIS surprise for ME and I didn’t know what to think! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry or scream. Honestly, all I could say was “Thank You!” Eventually, I said, “YES!” People around us applauded and congratulated us. One woman even said, “You made me believe in fairytales again.” He surprised me when I was surprising him because he knew I would have figured it out otherwise.  It was perfect!
