A Fall Engagement in Longwood Gardens

Back at Longwood Gardens for the second night in a row. If you caught our post from yesterday, you’d have seen Ian & Kate’s engagement that I shot on a Tuesday. The next day, I was back at Longwood Gardens to shoot with John & Amy! That hardly ever happens, but it was really fun to see the place with two different couples and stretch myself to not just create the same images as the day before. Each couple is different and telling their story isn’t a cookie-cutter, step-by-step process. Everyone has different dynamics and John & Amy were no exception. They are definitely a little more on the quiet, introverted side. You’d think pulling them out of their shell would be difficult, but they were absolute pros! They were completely up for anything and everything, including all my weird games and prompts. Those prompts are the secret to getting true, genuine laughs and smiles that are unique to each couple. We can’t wait for their wedding next year at Scotland Run Golf Club to laugh with them some more!

Their Engagement Story

These two met in college in New Jersey. They lived across the hall from one another and became friends before officially dating. That was five and a half years ago. Recently, John & Amy got engaged at the end of July while on vacation in Maine. They go there every summer. John’s plan was to propose to Amy while out sailing on the Casco Bay. He had the signal flags spell out a special message for her to decode. About an hour into the ride, he had her start decoding and once she figured out that they said “Marry Me,” he got down on one knee. What an awesome way to pop the question!

To John & Amy:

We loved shooting with you guys! Thanks for being so open and willing to go along with my probably somewhat embarrassing prompts. We love the way your photos turned out and can’t wait to share the rest of them with you! Until then, we hope you enjoy some of our favorites from your engagement session!
