Evening Engagement in Valley Forge Park

Ethan and Rebecca met us at Valley Forge Park a few weeks back for an evening engagement at Valley Forge Park. This is one of our all time favorite locations in Valley Forge. It has so many different backdrops to choose from. From fields, to barns, to creeks and mansions, it has a little bit of everything. And as far as July summer sessions go, this was a gorgeous evening (i.e. it wasn’t 100 degrees). Ethan and Rebecca were up in town for their tasting that weekend and I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in their engagement session. These two were so much fun and we had an awesome time wandering the area with them. Their wedding next year is going to be a party and we can’t wait to photograph and document all of those moments!

Q: How did the proposal happen?

Ethan started shopping for rings in the summer and proposed in late October. They had plans to go out to a winery on the weekend, which was nothing out of the ordinary for them and Rebecca wasn’t suspicious. Plus, they’d been casually chatting about ring design for a while, Rebecca trying to talk Ethan into a cathedral setting (she got her cathedral setting). They completed their tasting, then Ethan suggested going outside to check out the view before heading home. Ethan got on one knee and a photographer came out of her waiting spot to capture the moment. They took some more photos on the winery’s grounds, then headed home. The additional surprise was that Ethan planned a dinner at one of their most frequented restaurants with close friends later that evening, which Rebecca and everyone really enjoyed.

Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?

Considering we’ve been together for almost 10 years, it’s exciting to graduate from “boyfriend”/”girlfriend” to “fiancé”/”fiancée” when we refer to each other.

Q: Any advice for other couples planning their own wedding?

If you’re able, book your venue at least a year out so you can see it and do your tasting in the correct season. And if you’re considering a band, explore those options sooner rather than later!
