Matt & Alexandra
We met up with Matt & Alexandra for a winter engagement session at Lochwood Manor in Skippack, PA last week. This cute little barn is in the process of being converted to a wedding venue and it’s going to be such a great little spot for weddings once it’s finished. Matt and Alexandra loved the space, and while they chose another venue for their wedding, they wanted to use this spot as their backdrop for the session. There are a ton of backdrops at Lochwood including a barn, a historic home, a bridal suite, and lots of little pockets to stop and take photos. Matt and Alexandra had me laughing the whole session. They’re very goofy people and don’t take things too seriously. They brought their dog, Howard, with them. He was a ball of energy, but so cute! Overall, it was just a fun and relaxed session and I think we got some really great images of these two!
Q: Tell us your proposal story!
The date was December 7th, 2024. It was a fairly cold morning, but we planned to go on a walk with Howard (our dog) with my sister, my brother-in-law, and their two golden retrievers on the Wissahickon Trail right by my house. Matt was able to give Howard to my brother-in-law to walk and came up behind me (and asked me to turn around twice since I refused the first time) and when I turned around he was down on one knee. Matt had planned everything out with my sister so she was able to take a lot of pictures of our special moment and even brought some champagne to celebrate! I don’t think either of us remembers what was said exactly but it was obviously a yes! I was pretty surprised, I had a feeling he would be asking me before the end of the year, but I did not know the specifics. Matt was not nervous, and anxious over how it would play out with the dogs and where exactly to do it. We are both incredibly excited for this next chapter in our lives and were able to celebrate that night with our family and friends!
Q: What’s the best part of being engaged?
We’re looking forward to spending the rest of our lives with each other, and knock on wood, but it’s been the wedding planning process, everything has fallen into place pretty easily and the vision for our special day is coming into focus.
Q: Any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t get intimidated by how much there is to plan. Prioritize what is most important to you and tackle those items first, and if it gets too stressful, take a step back and remind yourself why you’re doing all this in the first place! Don’t be afraid to ask for help as well. Most of the major things that we have booked were referrals and recommendations from friends and family who had amazing experiences.
To Matt & Alexandra:
We cannot wait to celebrate with you guys in a few months at your wedding. It’s going to be so much fun! We’re working hard on your engagement session photos, but until they’re finished, we hope you love this little preview from your winter engagement at Lochwood Manor in Skippack, PA!
