We loved hanging with Sam & Andy during their engagement session at Peace Valley Park! We’ve shot here once before with Mike & Rachel two years ago, so when Andy & Sam suggested this place, we were totally on board! It has a huge lake and a wonderful shoreline to shoot photos on. Best of all, we just remember having incredible light and we had a stunning sunset during Sam & Andy’s engagement session. We got a killer silhouette shot, too!
We’ve also come to the realization that all of our couples would get along. The last few couples we’ve photographed have been in love with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and other awesome nerdy pop-culture films and books. Sam & Andy would fit right in as we found out that they’re in the middle of a Harry Potter marathon and like Steph and myself, watch all the movies during September. We just finished Goblet of Fire and at this point wish that we could attend Hogwarts, but who doesn’t? Andy & Sam were so easy to talk to and it felt like we were connecting with old friends despite never meeting them before. They’re getting married at Normandy Farm in Blue Bell this January and we cannot wait to celebrate with them!
On November 13th, 2015 we were set to go on a long awaited camping trip to Ricketts Glen State Park. We planned this trip since the summer before and were both extremely excited. Hiking became our favorite thing to do together! We were going with two of our best friends, Tom and Cate, with who we frequently double date and travel with when we can! We arrived at the cabin on Friday evening, and decided the night would best be spent relaxing and sitting by the fire. This way we could prepare ourselves for the big hike we planned for Saturday morning. The weekend was off to a great start! We were having so much fun just laughing, talking and enjoying each others company. Little did I know the best was yet to come!
On Saturday morning we got up and set out for the Falls Trail. It is said to be one of the best hikes in Pennsylvania, with challenging rock formations and 22 beautiful waterfalls scattered throughout the trail. We were about half way through the hike and just arriving to the bottom of Ganoga falls. It was there at the bottom of the 94 foot waterfall that our lives would change forever. While I was distracted by an interesting rock formation carved by the water that had rushed through that area for years, Andy quickly fished the ring out from his backpack and got down on one knee. Andy says it felt like he waited a lifetime for me to turn around to see him kneeling there. It was really only a few short seconds later that I turned around to see my very best friend, kneeling in front of me with an engagement ring in his hand. He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes! I was so excited my legs were shaking, I could barely finish our hike! We finished off the day sitting around the fire and drinking the champagne that Tom and Cate bought to celebrate. Andy had asked Tom and Cate to come prepared to capture these awesome moments. They did an amazing job and I am so grateful that they were there to celebrate this important day with us! Every single moment of the weekend was perfect.
We loved spending every second with you guys and cannot wait for your wedding!! It’s going to be so much fun! Hoping for snow so we can get some beautiful snowy portraits!! Until then, we hope you enjoy some of our favorites from your engagement session!
