Year In Review
2023 was full of so many incredible weddings with wonderful couples! We pulled back a bit and took fewer weddings to focus more on each couple, and the service we provided, and to spend more time at home with our son. Narrowing everything down to just 200 photos from weddings in 2023 is impossible, but these are just a few of our favorite mostly candid and unposed photographs from the year.
Some Stats
- First wedding was January 7th
- Last wedding was December 16th
- 24 weddings photographed and/or filmed
- 14 weddings were both photo and video
- ~20,500 edited photos delivered
- ~80,000 photos taken at weddings throughout 2023
- The furthest wedding was 95 miles away in Wilkes-Barre, PA
- The closest wedding was 6.3 miles away at Philander Chase Knox Estate in Valley Forge Park
Our work shifted further into documentary-style photography than ever before focusing or real moments over posed imagery. We implemented more 35mm film into our portfolio this year and will be doubling down on more of that in 2024. Apparently, the images we decided to make black and white ended up being moments we wanted to emphasize as real and candid. Black and white preserves these timeless moments and so you’ll see a lot of black and white photographs below.
We were inspired by a photography book by John Dolan called The Perfect Imperfect which breaks his work into 3 parts: Preparation, Unification, and Celebration. We decided to adopt this same structure to share our favorite wedding photographs from 2023.
Part I – Preparation
Part II – Unification
Part 3 – Celebration
