On The Other Side Of The Lens

We had an engagement shoot this week… but we were the ones being photographed! It was so exciting! It’s not very often that we are photographed. Normally, we set the camera on the tripod and set the self-timer to rush back so we don’t miss the photo. This was totally different – we were being posed and directed to smile, hug or kiss and fun stuff like that. The fabulous Jenny Castro shot our engagement session & we’re so excited to have her shoot our wedding in 2015.

We learned something while we were on the other side of the lens; something we may have already known that was in the back of our heads and maybe we just didn’t know how to communicate the idea up until now.

“It is less about photographing a pose and more about catching an authentic interaction.”

As we were being photographed, we really tried to forget about the camera and instead, focus on each other. We really pushed this concept at the wedding we shot on Saturday and we came away with some incredible images! This has definitely changed the way we shoot and interact with our couples.
