Colin & Katie
Last engagement session of 2016 and first blog post of 2017 goes to Colin & Katie! We love these two! We met Katie as a bridesmaid in her brother Tim’s wedding back in August (one of our favorite weddings of 2016 for sure, not to mention the hottest)! We love when we get the chance to work with family and continue seeing our past brides and grooms 🙂 Katie & Colin are getting married at Shadowbrook Mansion in Shrewsbury, NJ. That is also where we photographed their engagement session and it was stunning! The inside is so elegant and classy and just asking to be photographed. It’s going to be a dream this July when it comes even more alive for Colin & Katie’s big day! This couple is so fun, giggly, genuine and warm. We clicked with them the second we got out of the car and we couldn’t be happier for them and their marriage to come!
The Story
Colin & Katie knew each other in high school, but weren’t exactly sweethearts just yet. She dated one of his friend for a few months so they were always at the same parties. She always thought he was a really cute and secretly had a crush on him. Colin admits he had a crush on her, too, but he also had a girlfriend. Fast forward a few years. They bumped into each other one day (July 3rd to be exact). Katie hears someone yell out, “Hey, Andree!” She didn’t quite recognize him at first but then he reminded her she used to date his friend. They ended up talking and laughing all night and have been nearly inseparable ever since, laughing and talking until they don’t know where the time as gone.
Katie had just arrived back from California. Her and Colin are long distance as she works in San Fransisco for a year, but she came back for the holidays. They had a busy day before them, but Katie didn’t know exactly how big it would be! That night they had a Friendsgiving and that morning they were spending time with family so they hadn’t really had much alone time, so when Colin asked to go on a quick date before the Friendsgiving that evening, she didn’t expect much. Colin was nervous and she could tell that he was acting a bit weird, but thought maybe they were going to have a conversation about what they were going to do about the distance, how soon would she move back, how soon might he move out to San Fransisco. Colin took Katie to a beach she hadn’t been to before in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. There is a long walk to the water where you can overlook the NYC skyline at the end. When they arrived, he said something he’s said to her tons of times, kind of as a joke over the past two and a half years. “When are you gonna marry me, Andree?” She nudged him and said, “Whenever you ask.” Katie said she practically gave him the layup and all of a sudden he was down on his knee. She pretty much blacked out and made him do it again ten minutes later so she could take it all in. November 18th was their best day ever!
Colin & Katie, your story is too cute and so are the both of you! We loved spending every moment with you and are so glad we pushed the session back a day to get some awesome weather!
