Engagement at The Lantern Festival

This session will become one of the most memorable engagement sessions we’ve ever photographed. The first reason is this is the first same-sex engagement session we’ve done and we couldn’t be more excited about it! We’re pretty sure Cassi & Cae laughed more in the first five minutes of the session than most couples do during the entire two hours! It was adorable! The second reason is that the second half of their engagement session took place at The Lantern Festival! We didn’t even know how high up on our bucket list this festival was until we actually experienced it. If you get the chance to attend one, we highly suggest going! Cassi & Cae always dreamed of attending The Lantern Festival and so, what a perfect place to have their engagement session! We stopped at Valley Forge National Park to take some portraits before heading over to the festival. Once we arrived at the festival, we found our spot, ate some dinner with Cassi & Cae and grabbed a few more portraits of these two while we waited for the sun to set.

The sun finally set and we watched as a few lanterns trickled into the sky. We had Cassi & Cae light their lantern as dozens of other lanterns behind them drifted into the night, illuminating the sky. It. Was. Magical! Words can’t do it justice and, to be honest, our pictures don’t either. It’s certainly something you’ll have to see for yourself!

Their Engagement Story:

Cassi & Cae went to Disney World last October. It was a trip they planned on taking since they began dating, but was pushed off for other trips to Iceland, London and some other beautiful places. Since Tangled means so much to them as a couple, they decided they would create Rapunzel & Flynn for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (Did I mention they are cosplayers?!). One of the first things they did in Magic Kingdom that night was meet Rapunzel. Excited, Cassi ran ahead to talk with her. When Cae joined, Rapunzel said, “That bag looks just like Flynn’s! Is there a crown inside?” Cae responded with, “I have something even better.” Cae pulled the ring from her bag, got down on one knee and asked Cassi to be her princess. Cassi cried. A lot. It was so magical!

Later that year on a trip to Hawaii, Cassi took Cae for a walk on the beach after dinner. They had a polaroid camera with them. Cassi told Cae to stand by the ocean and look out at the sunset so she could snap a photo. When Cae turned around after the photo was taken, Cassi was down on one knee and proposed to Cae! How cute is that? A double proposal!
