A Spring Engagement at Fairmount Water Works in Philadelphia

Shane & Hailey

Oh, let me tell you about the wonderful time we had photographing Shane and Hailey’s spring engagement session at Fairmount Water Works in Philadelphia, PA. It was a blast! They both came dressed to impress. Shane mixed a sharp blue suit jacket with some khaki pants, and Hailey looked beautiful in a ruffled white dress. Later in the session, they switched things up with a wardrobe change going for a more casual look. Their outfits perfectly complemented each other’s style. And the weather was so gorgeous. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the flowers were blooming. It was like the universe was conspiring to create the perfect backdrop for their engagement session.

Q: Share your story with us. How did you get engaged?

Looking back, our proposal story was full of twist and turns. Shane had an elaborate plan for a surprise proposal which I got in the way of not once, but like three times. Between a last minute work trip and buying a coffee machine off of Facebook Marketplace, Shane had to call an audible. Shane convinced me he had been working on his mixology skills and wanted to surprise me with a margarita. He told me to wait in the other room while he played mariachi music and ran the blender to really make it convincing. In reality, he was decorating the apartment with photos of us over the past eight years and writing a note to meet him at Fairmount Water Works in a few hours. I came out to get my margarita and to my surprise Shane was heading out the door. At that point I understood what was happening and thank goodness he actually gave me a margarita. I called my best friends and got myself ready to meet my almost-fiancé. When I got to Water Works on March 26, 2022, I met up with Shane who proceeded to get down on one knee. I can’t say I remember what he said, but I remember how I felt. When he finally asked, “Will you marry me?” I couldn’t say yes quick enough!

Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?

We have really enjoyed spending our engagement discussing our future as a married couple. We have been not only enjoying wedding planning, but planning trips, life events, and more. For us, the engagement has been one step in writing our next chapter.

Q: Any advice you’d like to share with our couples planning their own wedding?

Our advice to future couples would be to enjoy the engagement for a few weeks before launching yourselves into planning. After you have basked in the warmth of being newly engaged, it’s full steam ahead!

To Shane & Hailey:

I had such an incredibly fun time with you both during your session! Thanks for injecting so much joy into this shoot and being totally up for anything! We can’t wait for your wedding later this year at The Philadelphia Cricket Club. It’s going to be so wonderful! Until then, we hope you enjoy this sneak peek at your spring engagement at Fairmount Water Works!
