Winter Engagement at Dilworth Park

Nick & Jamie

We got to join Nick and Jamie for a festive winter engagement at Dilworth Park in Philadelphia earlier this week. This session was non-stop laughter and smiles, and we had a super fun time with these two. We grabbed drinks, went ice skating, and wandered the City Hall area for a few hours. Josiah went to high school with Jamie and so they had a chance to catch up for a bit. Nick and Jamie are the perfect match. We know you found a good one when we see you high-five multiple times throughout your session. This was a first for us shooting down at the Christmas Village area in Philly. Once it got dark, this place became magical. We’re glad we got the chance to shoot here since it’s only set up like this for a few weeks out of the year.

Q: How did the proposal happen?

Nick and I planned our first vacation together in May 2022 after being together for 4 years (after surviving a pandemic and nursing school together). We went to Orlando, FL to be big ‘ol kids in the theme parks. I had some small hunches that something would happen when Nick kept asking my opinion on getting engaged in front of the castle in Magic Kingdom and his mom texted me asking for my shirt size to get us matching T-shirts. I quickly panicked from the impending attention from the possibility of a grand gesture, and then we both agreed on a more personal and quaint proposal.

Nick asked me to marry him on the water near the hotel we were staying in on May 26, 2022. It is also important to note that this was the first day of our trip and when I called my family to share the news they all said, “Wow, he is brave! Could you imagine if you said no? That would be an awkward rest of your vacation.”

Q: What’s your favorite part of being engaged?

Being engaged has made planning the future together more exciting and makes our commitment to each other stronger.

Q: Any advice for others planning their wedding?

To future wedding-planning couples, do what makes you happy. Weddings are expensive and chaotic and are over in the blink of an eye. Plan something that feels authentic to you as individuals as well as a couple and try to ignore the noise and opinions of others around you. The day is about you and your love, and it’s important to find your own unique way of emulating that.

To Nick & Jamie:

We had the best time with you both! Thanks for shooting with us, and putting up with all the ridiculous prompts and constant PDA that we put you through. You both did incredible and we truly hope you love these as much as we do. Can’t wait to share the full gallery with you! Until then we hope you enjoy this little preview from your winter engagement at Dilworth Park in Philadelphia!
