A Snowy Engagement at Wissahickon Valley Park

Guys! These two are some of our favorites! We felt super comfortable from the moment we met them 6 months ago and after not seeing them for half a year, we still felt like we just click when we saw them on Wednesday. They feel like old friends in that way. Jessie & Nate are two of the sweetest people who have huge hearts for others and for one another. They are goofy and fun to be around and they are sure to make you smile! We loved photographing their engagement session and are so excited for their upcoming wedding this September at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, PA! It’ll be a drastic change of scenery from their wintery engagement session! We’ve been waiting a few months for snow to come around and we knew that this last winter storm was the perfect opportunity! We had a wonderful time in the snow with them and are so excited to show you a bunch of photos today!!

Their Story

Jessie & Nate met through friends. It’s actually a funny story because Jessie almost didn’t agree for the set-up. Nate‘s best friend from high school, Carney, was dating a girl named Kristin that Jessie has known since she was about 3-4 years old who happens to be best friends with her cousin, Casey. Despite knowing Kristin since she was young, Jessie wasn’t that great of friends with her and therefore was very hesitant about agreeing to the set up, but her cousin Casey convinced her that it was a good idea and Jessie agreed to the set up! Nate & Jessie are both huge dog people. Jessie has a shepherd/lab rescue and Nate has a Vizsla. Their dogs met when they met, and they got along great which allowed them to get started on the right foot (or paw)! Jessie’s family has happy hour on their screened in porch every Friday in the Spring through early fall. There will be anywhere from 4-20 people who show up at any point. Nate frequently comes to happy hour, so it wasn’t a surprise or anything out of the ordinary that he was there. Jessie had a very long day at work and returned home much later than anticipated, so she was ready to just sit down and unwind. They had returned a few weeks prior from a trip to Maine, where they found this amazing blueberry jam, and they began making blueberry Moscow Mules with it! We’re told we must try it ’cause it’s that good! It was during one of the heat waves in July, and Jessie just wanted to stay inside in the air conditioning. Nate tried to get her to go outside with the dogs across the bridge in their backyard so they could run around and he was going to propose while they were out there. Jessie refused to go outside because she was exhausted, hot, and cranky from work! So he walked around the beginning of the happy hour with the ring box in his pocket!

Eventually as the night went on, he had walked to his truck to get the ring box out of his pocket and into the back of his truck. Later he asked Jessie to follow him out to his truck because he had something for her. The weekend prior, Nate & Jessie had gone to State College for 4th of July, so Jessie figured at some point she had left something in his truck during all the car rides and didn’t find anything suspicious with him asking her to follow him. When they were walking out to the truck, she started asking what was in it, and he said he bought her something in Maine, to which she had replied, “No you didn’t! I was with you the whole time!”

“Maybe it’s more blueberry jam!” He said. Jessie got very excited because she was running low on the jam. Nate opened the back of the truck and pulled out the ring box, and in shock, Jessie said, “That’s not jam!” She was beyond surprised! No one else at the happy hour, or anyone for that matter knew they were going to get engaged then. Jessie was so excited to surprise everyone that she nearly walked back into the house and forgot to even get the ring from Nate! It ended up being a very good (and long) happy hour!
