Wedding Dress Practice
This is going to be a short blog post. It’s simply a quick tip that will save you some time and a whole lot of stress on your wedding day. I’m sure you’ve heard horror stories of zippers breaking, buttons popping off or a lace up dress taking over an hour to lace up correctly. No? You haven’t? Well, we have heard those stories. That sort of thing happens… and yes, we are purposely scaring you so that you won’t have this happen to you. The solution? Practice putting your wedding dress on before the wedding day!! We’ll say it again…
Practice putting on your wedding dress before the wedding day!
We definitely suggest getting together one evening with your maid of honor, mother, bridesmaids, or whoever else may be helping you in your dress to take some time and, well… help you get in your dress. This will allow these people to learn how to button or lace up your dress properly. It will let you know how you fit in the dress as well and if you’ll need any other alterations. Then, take off the dress, set a timer and do it again. Finding out how much time it will take to lace up your dress could save you a lot of stress on the wedding day because we can build that time right into your timeline. The same goes for bustling! Make sure your girls learn how to bustle your dress and how to bustle it quickly. The biggest issue we find is that the bridesmaids can’t find where the hooks are for the bustle to happen. Locating those hooks before the wedding day and learning how to bustle will make all the difference since you’ll most likely be in a rush to get to the reception. Zippers are pretty simple, but even we run into a tricky zipper from time to time so it can’t hurt to practice with a zip-up back, too.
Like we said, it’s a simple tip, but one that will save you a lot of time and stress in case something does happen.
