We love engagement sessions because it allows us to get the couple in front of our camera before the wedding day! This means we get to learn how to make them comfortable getting their photo taken, and what makes them laugh, smile, and what poses look best on them. They also get to learn how we pose, light, and direct. And best of all, they’re tons of fun!
We photographed 26 engagement sessions in 2021! These sessions took us all over the place. Some of the locations we’ve been to a few times like Valley Forge Park, Longwood Gardens, or The Philadelphia Museum of Art. But some others took us to Lincoln Financial Field, Manhattan and Central Park, The Alloy Hotel, and the Beach in Margate, NJ. We love when the couple chooses a place that is meaningful to them, but also know that not everyone has a place like that so we always recommend a few places we love shooting.
Every year we try and create better and more compelling work. This year especially was a year that we tried a lot of different things like new ways of lighting, new poses, new angles, and more prompts for real reactions. As with any creative field, there were moments we failed and learned lessons, and photographs we are really proud we created. Below are 100 photos from engagements in 2021. These are just some of our favorites from the year. It’s impossible for us to really narrow down the top 100. It just can’t happen, but we think this series highlights some of the best work we created in 2021. Can’t wait to see what we create this year in 2022!
