Engagement in Old City, Philadelphia

We had an incredible time photographing Andrew and Abby’s fall engagement in Old City, Philadelphia earlier this week. After spending an hour and a half talking with Abby on the phone during her consultation, we knew we were going to love photographing these two…and we were right! Nerves always get us a little bit when we’re going to engagement sessions. We never know exactly how the couple interacts, if they’re going to need a lot of coaching, or if they’re going to let loose and just have a ton of fun. Well, we rounded the corner and saw Andrew and Abby laughing and giggling with each other on the sidewalk and immediately we knew this was going to be a great session. These two have a really fun sense of humor, didn’t stop laughing and joking around the entire time. We’re pretty sure Abby tried to make us cringe as much as possible, and we have to apologize now for the number of times we’re sure Andrew will now “nuzzle in” on a regular basis. But these two really are so wonderful to be around, have such great energy, and we cannot wait to photograph them again next year at their wedding!

Q: How did the proposal happen?

I knew it would be happening somewhat soon (we shopped for the ring together and our wonderful friend Angela Monaco created it for us), but wasn’t sure of exactly when. Andrew brought me and our dog Daisy on a picnic in Washington Square to pop the question!

Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?

It’s been such a fun bubble — it’s basically another honeymoon phase. Staring at the ring is pretty fun too!

Q: Any advice for other couples getting married?

The two of you have a specific vision for how you want your day to go and shouldn’t have to compromise that. Be open to feedback, but don’t be afraid to put your foot down on big details like your guest list, venue, food, etc.
