Danny & Lindsey
Last week we met up with Danny & Lindsey on a particularly hot evening for their summer engagement at Hunting Hill Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park! This venue is so wild. It is the most gorgeous mansion situated on the coolest grounds. Every spot is out of a fairytale and provided the perfect backdrop for Danny & Lindsey’s engagement session. Lindsey’s family and our family go way back. Our parents are close friends, and we grew up with the Edwards clan our entire life. That said, getting to document such a special season of life for an incredible family is an honor. Lindsey and Danny were naturals in front of the camera. We goofed around, explored the grounds of Hunting Hill Mansion, and got some gorgeous photographs. They were all smiles and laughs throughout the sweltering session. Can’t wait for their wedding next year!
Q: How did the proposal happen?
On June 7th, 2024, we went to Valley Forge Park which, according to Danny, was just going to be a time of doing devotions together and enjoying the summer weather. We had a deal that every date we went on this summer, we would both wear an outfit that we would want to get engaged in so that it wasn’t obvious the day of. After reading in the park for about an hour, Danny said we had to go to “dinner” with his family. Suspiciously, right before leaving, he said he had to go to the bathroom. So, I took it upon myself to make a video on my phone about how I thought he was going to propose that day (and that is a video I will cherish forever)!
We got in the car and made our way out of the park. As we drove by Knox’s Quarters, Danny said that we should check it out because he had “never been there before.” We pulled in and he grabbed his backpack. At this point, I knew my suspicions were correct because he was acting a bit nervous and I knew that if he only wanted to stop and look at the place he wouldn’t be bringing his backpack with him. As we walked down the path, I saw a bunch of flowers placed on the ground and canvases set up with pictures and memories of our years together.
Danny quickly put his stuff down and then led me over to where he set everything up. He read me a letter he wrote, which I am so glad I have because I think I blacked out, and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said YES!! After taking some photos, he told me that we were actually going out to dinner with both of our families to celebrate! I knew that we were going to get engaged at some point this summer, but I never expected it to be that early! The happiness on that day was completely unmatched!
Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?
Lindsey: My favorite part of being engaged has been the excitement surrounding what the future holds and everyone being so excited for us, which has been so special! This is a season of our lives that we only get once, so Danny and I are making sure we enjoy every second of the exciting planning process!
Danny: My favorite part of being engaged has been continuing to learn about Lindsey in a fun and new stage. I am so excited that we finally have a wedding date to look forward to, which has been something we have looked forward to for 5+ years!
Q: What advice do you have for other couples planning their own weddings?
Take the first week or two to simply enjoy the excitement and change surrounding your engagement! Take time every week to not talk about wedding planning in any way and instead go on a date and talk about other things in life. It is important to take time to recognize why you are getting married and who you are marrying because that outlives the wedding details!
To Danny & Lindsey:
Thanks for bringing me along and trusting me with your photographs! You both made this session so incredibly fun and I can’t wait to do it all over again on the wedding day next year! Working hard on your gallery, but until then we hope you enjoy this little preview of your summer engagement session at Hunting Hill Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park!
