Engagement at Belmont Plateau

Photographed by Ryan + Courtney

We heard so many great things about Peter + Jeu-Hee from our associate photography team, Ryan + Courtney. They met up with Peter + Jeu-Hee for their engagement session at Belmont Plateau that overlooks the skyline of Philadelphia. It was a bit gloomy and cloudy, but these two brought huge smiles, lots of laughter, and joy to the session. From someone who wasn’t at the session, I can clearly see the love and happiness shine through these photos. Ryan + Courtney couldn’t stop saying how much they enjoyed photographing them and that they couldn’t wait to do it all over again later this year at their wedding.

Q: How Did Peter Propose?

Peter had it all planned out. At the time, we were semi-long distance, and I was living in upstate New York. Unbeknownst to me, he had contacted two of my friends (a married couple) a few weeks before. One of my friends casually suggested a double date to a beautiful state park during when Peter was coming to visit. When Peter arrived, we got rained out on Saturday, so we ended going on Sunday instead. My friend suggested we take a tour of the waterfalls the state park was known for. Eventually we made it down to a stone bridge in front of a gorgeous waterfall, and my friend insisted we wait until other park visitors passed to take a group photo. Still suspecting nothing, I just waited, while watching the waterfall. Finally, my friend told me to pose in front of the waterfall, which I went to do. When I turned around, Peter was on one knee!

Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?

We were already a great team before, but while being engaged it has taken a whole new level. It has been so fun to think about details of our future together, plan a wedding together and grow closer as a couple but also develop our ability to face and work through challenges and joyful times together.

Q: Any advice you’d like to share for other couples planning their own wedding?

There can be a lot of details that go into a wedding. Try not to get caught up in everything going right! Never forget what the real point of your wedding is…a celebration of the life you two are going to have together! The rest is wallpaper. You two are a team and are on the same side. Everything will work out. Oh, and get your dress early if you’re planning a wedding in less than 12 months!

To Peter + Jeu-Hee:

We hope you had a wonderful time with Ryan + Courtney at your engagement session at Belmont Plateau! It certainly looks like you did! We can really feel the joy and love you guys share. Courtney went on and on about how much she loved photographing the two of you and that she can’t wait for your wedding. We can’t wait to see what they capture either and we can’t wait to share the rest of your engagement photos with you. Until then, we hope you enjoy this little sneak peek from your session last week!
