Engagement Session at Lehigh University

We met up with Mike + Sara for their engagement session at Lehigh University on Memorial Day and it did not disappoint! They were so fun to photograph and were all over each other. We often say we encourage PDA for a living so this made our jobs so easy! Photographing couples who show a lot of affection and are all over each other really makes capturing authentic emotion quite simple. Lehigh University was a perfect spot to photograph them since this was where they met and went to school.

Q: How did Mike propose?

We took a trip to Bethlehem for Mike’s birthday, stayed at Hotel Bethlehem, had a romantic dinner and the next day we walked around Lehigh University’s campus. We were reminiscing and walking around the different buildings. I had a suspicion that Mike might propose but he didn’t do it at any of the spots I would have expected so I tried to keep my disappointment to myself and just enjoy the day. He kept insisting that we walk all the way up towards the dorms. Finally, we get to the dorm where I lived my sophomore (Mike’s freshman) year when we met.

He looks at me and asks, “do I know what today is?” I tell him October 14th. He then starts in on this beautiful dialogue of the day we met and what it now represents. He continued with this wonderfully romantic dialogue of our relationship and then he pulls out a ring box, gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. By this point I am a complete ball of tears and I can barely squeak out a yes. I was beyond ecstatic and I could not believe that after all the time I spent waiting, Mike finally asked me to marry him. We were both so happy and so in love, as we still are today. We get to marry our best friend.

Q: What’s the best part about being engaged?

Mike’s favorite part is seeing me show off my ring. My favorite part is knowing that the ring I wear represents the promise that we will finally fulfill on our wedding day, the promise to love each other and support each other through the rest of our lives.

Q: Any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

If you’re someone that is anxious or gets easily overwhelmed, give yourself plenty of time to plan your wedding. We gave ourselves almost two years and it is still overwhelming sometimes. Take everything one step at a time and enjoy the small victories of checking things off your to-do list.
