FAQ: Emergency Situation

What Happens If You Can’t Make it to My Wedding?

We’ve never missed a wedding. Knock on wood. Fingers crossed. All the lucky things to cancel out jinxing ourselves. We don’t much believe in that stuff anyway. This is a tough question to answer. We get it pretty often, too. “What happens if you get sick, injured or there’s an emergency and you can’t make it to my wedding?” It’s a legitimate concern and we treat it as so. Here’s how we answer that question and what we would do if an emergency popped up.

We have a really strong network of photographers in the area. These are other photographers we trust and would rely on to capture the wedding in our place in case we both couldn’t make it. We know that they would have our backs in case of an emergency because we would have theirs in case something happened to them. This scenario is what would take place if we were in a car accident on the way to the wedding or we both came down with an awful sickness or something.

I will say that we’ll photograph your wedding if we’re sick. We just won’t give you a hug when we show up and we’ll be extra careful to keep our germs to ourselves. Whether that’s a cold, migraine, stomach ache and pretty much anything other than the flu.

Thankfully, because there’s two of us, one of us should be good to go. It’s very rare that we’re sick at the same time, so one of us would go shoot the wedding and the other would rest up at home. We would also attempt to find a second photographer for the wedding day last minute to cover for the other person.

Other than that, it’s really up to fate. We know it’s not much to go on, but it’s the best plan we have in place. We can’t reserve back up photographers on the very slim chance that something might happen. Steph & I have a great network of photographers who we can contact and rely on if we’re in a bind and need some extra help.

In our nearly 8 year career, we’ve never missed a wedding due to an emergency or sickness and we don’t foresee it happening any time soon.
